Prop: Short for “Property”
A “Prop” is any object that an actor uses or interacts with in a TV Show or Movie. Props are provided by the Property Department or Props Department for short. They could be purchased, designed and/or created by the prop dept. Props are typically not clothing or set pieces (furniture, walls, curtains) unless they have a special feature or play a key roll and are specifically interacted with by the actors. Props are things like Han Solo’s Laser Blaster, Indiana Jones’ whip, Dorothy’s Ruby Slippers and even the BTTF DeLorean.
Making Prop replicas allow you to hold a piece of a show or movie in your hand. It give you the feeling of being a part of something or bringing back the memories of the first time you saw the movie. Being a Sci-fi fan, I gravitate towards the outer space related props, the robots, the futuristic, the mysterious, the type that makes you say, “Wow, cool!”. Have a background in electronics allows me to tackle some of the more complex prop replicas.
So I bring you my Lost in Space B9 Robot, my BTTF Flux Capacitor and my Twilight Zone Mystic Seer, among others.
Enjoy.
TZ Mystic Seer
The mysterious Mystic Seer from the Twilight Zone Episode “Nick of Time” Featuring a very young William Shatner.
BTTF Flux Capacitor
My first Flux Capacitor to give as a Xmas present for my nephew Ben. I can happily say that it was finished in time and was a big hit on Christmas.
LIS B9 Robot
I’ve always been a Science-Fiction fan. I grew up watching Star Trek, Twilight Zone and of course, Lost in Space. Lost in Space was always a favorite because of the fact that Will Robinson, who was just a kid, had his very own robot.
